Writing Updates

Weekly Update

I gave myself a bit of a breather after finishing the edits from Breaking Bones. I am diving back into this week. I am going to have to put in extra days, though, if I want to finish this round by the end of the month. The reason I am pushing for that deadline is, one, I need to get these back to my editor. Two, next month is NaNoWriMo. I have decided what I will be drafting for that month. Though, I have drafted and edited a story at the same time before. It can be exhausting mentally.

I have come up with a list of characters for the story. Though, I am still trying to solidify their final names. I have a rough map of the region where the story will take place. This is important as the movement of characters is important. And I’ve sketched out a rough story plot. It will be a retelling of a well-known spooky story. But I will be taking it and turning it into a horror story and changing the region where the story takes place and the types of people that are in the story.

There will be a timeless element to it. I know what the time period the story takes place, but won’t indicate it directly in the story. I am also going for a magic realism style with the story. That is about as much as I will be sharing, publicly, about the story until it is completed. In a perfect world, the story will be ready to come out next year, before October. But we shall see.
